What's better than one punk? Deux Punx! Especially when said Punx are ex-somms who started making killer minimalist wines in Napa 15 years ago.
Dan Schaaf and Kayne Guzowski are making some of the coolest natural wine in the state, all from a shared roll up garage in Napa's River East neighborhood. Each wine is produced in the same manner, checking all the boxes you'd want - native fermentation, minimal (if any) sulfur addition, neutral oak, and ambient temperatures.
The California natural wine scene is a crowded one. What elevates them above the hordes of competition in the category? The value Dan and Kayne place on their relationships with their grower partners and the vineyards that they farm, all organic and largely very, very old. They probably say it best:
"We get great fruit and just try not to f*ck it up"
We'll have Deux Punx behind the bar at Solano Cellars this Friday to pour through a veritable vinous rainbow - aromatic bubbles, juicy rosé, a bright and punchy white blend, structured and savory orange, and crunchy, wild-berry red. A flight, some snacks from the kitchen, and a chance to chat with the eponymous Punx? Not a bad Friday night!
$25 for the flight ($15 for club members). All wines are also available by-the-glass!
