Description
If there's a better Sauvignon Blanc for $14, please bring us a bottle. Haut Bourg is best known for its Muscadet wines, but global warming has widened the area in northern France where the Sauvignon grape can ripen. Gone are the days when these Vin de Pays wines were overly grassy-green in their aromatics; now, they're almost delicate, with notes of citrus, lychee, and white flowers, but still backed up with bracing acidity and minerals aplenty. This is the sort of wine that depresses Californian winemakers whose $30 bottles of SB can't come close to this level of simple joy.
