Description
Romain Guiberteau has been a towering figure within the Loire Valley, making some of the most compelling and electric dry chenins in Saumur. With this wine, we found a rare opportunity to present the oft hard-to-find and impossible to hold onto producer with a little more regularity. Chai de la Dive is Romain's negociant project, but there's nothing lesser about this wine. Working with the same vineyards and produced in the same style as his eponymous label, this chenin offers aromas of green apple, quince, pear, and crushed rock, and it's just as riveting on the palate. Vibrant and linear, the electric acidity is integrated into the stone fruit, citrus peel, and mineral notes. Despite its high-toned personality, it possesses a brilliant texture that carries all of those flavors through the lengthy finish.
