The tremendous potential of Monthélie and the Dujardin's mastery of it is on full display with their 2021 1er Cru Les Vignes Rondes, one of the most celebrated Premier Cru climats in the appellation. The cool, balanced conditions of the vintage coaxed finessed tension from these 70 year old Pinot Noir vines, balancing fine-grained textured and brisk, fresh acidity with layers of Morello cherry, cranberry, forest floor and violet aromatics. While approachable in its youth, this is also a bottle that's just now entering into its peak drinking window, and one that will continue to develop for another 5 years in the cellar.
