How did a little winery from Slovenia's Goriška Brda region come to be featured on Michelin-starred wine lists across the world? A love story, naturally: Slovenian winemaker's daughter Katja Kabaj (pron. kuh-bye) fell for French oenologist Jean-Michel Morel… and they married, creating an international wine power couple that put Kabaj, and the larger Slovenian wine scene, on the map. Jean-Michel brought his Italian and French sensibilities to the Slovenian winery — along with his fondness for working with amphorae, and experimenting to see just how elegant "skin contact" wines could be.
