Josh Hammerling arrived in Berkeley from Fargo, North Dakota, and despite his woeful lack of a Marge Gunderson accent, proceeded to garner an enormous amount of attention in a very short period of time.(Like, e.g., when the SF Chronicle called him your favorite new sparkling winemaker, period.)
Josh launched in West Berkeley's fertile winemaking district, next to Broc, Donkey & Goat, Vinca Minor and more as Blue Ox; his wines are now flying under his own flag of Hammerling Wines, and they've never been better!
Josh'll be pouring two Old World-inspired reds (his Cab Franc and his Cali Rhone blend), as elegant as they are gulpable, along with three sparklers: a Blanc de Noir named after an equally Berkeley-made documentary about Werner Herzog, and two brand-new releases: his sparkling Passetoutgrain (a blend of Gamay and Pinot), and a beguiling sparkling Riesling made via the solera system.
These are unique and compelling wines, without many peers here in California. Some are only available at our event, and others are debuting here! Reserve your spot, and come taste:
