It's Nouveau Day on Thursday, but we're celebrating with our own Fête du Beaujolais on Friday - and our party is skipping right to the serious stuff, old vine, cru bottles that will once again reignite our ongoing love affair with the region. We're opening gems from some up-and-coming superstars in Beaujolais: David Chapel and Michele Smith-Chapel, who met while both working for the famed Domaine Lapierre; Sylvain Martel, a protege of the Graillot family who settled in Fleurie to establish his own estate; and Mee Godard, whose studies took her from Oregon to Montpellier, to stints working for cult icons in Burgundy (Comtes Lafon, Corton André) before finding herself entirely captivated by and committed to Beaujolais.
