A region with wildly varied terroir, a preponderance of vineyards as old as many American cities, and one of the most ancient winemaking traditions in the world (we're talking Tartessians and Phoenicians, here): That's Portugal, and somehow it remains perpetually overlooked! While the mystery of Portugal's status as an under-discovered wine region persists, we're left with two indisputable truths: 1.) the greatest Portuguese wines can stand up to all of their continental peers and 2.) their under-the-radar status means they're also often some of the greatest values in wine.
