The Soul of Portugal: Dão @ Vine St. Friday, August 15th

The wines of Dão based Elisa Freire Lobo are without a doubt some of our favorite wines (and favorite values) in all of Portugal! After spending years working alongside some of the most respected producers of the region--including Casimiro Gomes, Carlos Rodrigues, Carlos Lucas, Alvaro Castro and the late Magalhães Coelho--Elisa went home to the mountainous Serra da Estrela to take over her family's vineyards in 2010. These wines are immaculately farmed, organic wonders, built on the traditional white and red field blends of the region--wines that showcase Elisa's incredible vineyards, farming and terroir, with little to no intervention in the cellar. We've been proud to carry the Lobo Blanco and Tinto for many years, and were excited when our friend Arnie Plowe of Beaune Imports told us some of the hard to find bottlings of Elisa's were available too! We'll be pouring 5 wines including the 'Sardanita' bubbles, old vine Touriga Nacional, the delicious and complex white and red field blends and more.
