Description
Cesanese is an ancient, very late ripening grape found in the areas surrounding Rome and is the every day red wine Romans drink with their rich, meat dishes. This take on it is a testament to the heights a terroir-driven approach can reach. Lighter in color with a pronounced mineral-driven backbone and much less density than typical versions, it's refined and pretty darn gorgeous - pure pleasure to drink. Hints of graphite and red fruit dominate a dynamic nose, in particular cherry, raspberry, a shake of black pepper and thyme. Such rollicking aromatics are complemented by a finessed, and perfectly approachable, palate: juicy, mineral, and savory, with zippy acidity and just-right light tannins.
