Description
Irouleguy is located deep in the Basque-accented French Pyrenees and is France's most western AOC. Domaine Ilarria is a tiny grower / producer who uses organic farming to squeeze the best taste out of their Tannat, Cabernet Franc blend. Tannat is prone to tough chewy stuff - and isn't always enjoyable. Ilarria went heavy on the Cab Franc here, and the wine could easily pass for a more anise-scented Chinon. Beautfully pure, deep, and worthy of a fatty bird on the table.
