The wine for all the above occasions - Monteraponi Baron Ugo, as deserving of the Super Tuscan moniker as any we’ve come across. Sangiovese (from Radda in Chianti Classico) accounts for 90 % of the blend, with Canaiolo and Colorino adding spice and textural nuance. After 36 months aged in large used botti, the resulting wine is both aromatic and bright, with a dense core of dusty red fruit and sandalwood-scented tannins on the palate.
