Under the Radar Burgundy @ Solano Cellars May 24th

As some of the most established and revered real estate in the wine-producing world, Burgundy isn't exactly in need of any grand introduction. It can, however, be easy to forget that Burgundy does exist on a spectrum. Wines range from Chardonnay and Gamay from the Mâcon, a humble stretch on the outskirts of the region and home to some of the most outrageous value in all of France, to the 1er Cru, selection massale vineyards that line the way from the Côte de Beaune through the Côte de Nuits. And in between, there are the appellations that have their foot in each camp - exceptional, old vine material fermented and aged in old oak barrels (in even older cellars), that for all their excellence, have remained firmly under the radar.

.

On Friday, we'll have our friend (and real-life Frenchman) Paul Duroussay of Pierreclos Imports pouring a range of Burgundy, from the charming wines of his parents' Mâcon estate all the way to extremely limited Pommard and Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru.
