Obsidian Wine Co. hardly needs an introduction around here, but the TLDR is Obsidian was founded in 2002 by Michael Terrien, Peter Molnar, and Arpad Molnar. This trio set out with a DIY attitude: they would farm their own vineyards, cooper their own barrels and vinify their own wine, thoughtfully.
The group farms vines on both sides of the Mayacamas from the southernmost seaside vineyards of Napa Valley to the northern slope of a volcano up to 2,900 feet elevation in Lake County. The soils here are riddled with chunks of glassy black obsidian, making for extremely compelling wines.
Peter Molnar (our neighbor!) will be joining us to walk through a tasting of five wines, including some special bottles usually reserved for wine club members! Wines will be paired with delicious lamb meatballs sourced from local Lake County sheep herder and prepared expertly by local chef Carlo Espinas from Sister Restaurant.
