Come on down to Vine street this Thursday to meet and taste with local winemaking wizard, Michael Cruse. Known for his show stopping sparkling wines (grower Champagne from California? Ultramarine? Yes please!) and quaffable, fruity, affordable reimaginings of California table wine, Michael is simply a star of California winemaking. A self-proclaimed “Gold Star Californian,” he grew up in SF, studied biochemistry at Cal and has always called Northern California home. Michael took a turn towards wine when he started to burn out working in science and worked his way through the wine industry, founding Ultramarine Wines in 2008 and Cruse Wine Company in 2013. Michael’s background working in science has absolutely made him a better winemaker, with a real sense of the chemistry of wine and an energetic, thoughtful, scholarly approach to winemaking.
Michael’s wines are fruit driven and fun, but also have a depth and clarity that are simply incredible. And we mean it when we say these are the best sparkling wines made in California!
