This Valentine’s Day, we’re skipping the predictable wine-and-chocolate pairing in favor of something more curious. Instead, we’re asking a question: does wine have a gender? We’ve invited Jason Kehe of WIRED Magazine to join us as guest pourer and guide as we rethink the language of wine.
Together, we’ll taste and casually explore how long-standing ideas of masculinity and femininity shaped the way we describe wine, and whether that language still serves us today. Along the way, we’ll pour wines that fit the old categories and others that scramble the binary.
We’ll explore questions like:
Is power the same as depth?
Where did gendered wine language come from?
Is “smooth” actually a compliment, or an easy way out?
Is AI exposing the wine critic or just itself?
Singles, couples, everyone is invited this Valentine's Day. We'll be pouring at least 6 wines but Jason has been known to crack a bonus bottle or two!
