Agnès Paquet is a superstar winemaker in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune and we are thrilled to host a tasting of her wines here at Vintage Berkeley on Vine street!
Her family has held an important parcel of vines in the appellation Auxey-Duresses since the mid-1950s, renting the land to local winemakers. In 2000, the family decided to sell the vineyard and Agnes purchased the plot to farm and make the wines. She worked with Jean-Pierre Charlot of Domaine Joseph Voillot in Volnay, and hit the ground running with her first vintage in 2001. Agnès stopped using chemicals in the vineyards in 2004, and received organic certification in 2021.
The extremely small-scale production of her wines, combined with her status as a darling of France's three Michelin Star "Somms" (from the restaurants of Alain Ducasse, Anne-Sophie Pic and Joël Robuchon) means we rarely see these wines available in decent quantities here in California. We're so happy to have our friend Monika Guettlein of Terra Firma Wines here at the shop to share the Paquet wines and discuss all things Burgundy! We'll be pouring four wines--a delicious Aligoté, an electric Chardonnay and two beautiful Pinot Noir bottlings!
