Every December, as the days get shorter, the mornings frostier, and the gatherings more festive, there's a moment when a spark of joy wiggles its way into our hearts, a realization that wraps around us like a soft, warm, welcome hug: it's Tokaji season.

Few things make us swoon more than the wines from this historic region in Southern Hungary, with its volcanic basalt soils and the great versatility of the indigenous grapes planted there. Tokaji sweet wines might be the most iconic of the region; they were, after all, the first recorded wines to use botrytis, or noble rot, in production, predating even the famed Sauternes in that category. But the broad offering of Tokaj doesn't end there: the ancient winemaking tradition includes savory, elegant Champagne method bubbles, nervy, mineral dry whites full of texture and nuance, botrytized wines fermented dry and aged under flor (Hungary's compelling alternative to sherry), and more in between. And of course, if we're celebrating Tokaj, we're doing it with wines from our friend Eric Danch!
.
On Friday, we're pouring the full spectrum of the fascinating (and undeniably delicious) wines of Tokaj. And because these wines love to be paired with food, we'll have an optional cheese and charcuterie pairing to add on! These are ideal wines for the season - come get your holiday table sorted (we'll have some of Danch's red wines open as well!)
