Come meet Bill, co-founder of William Lane. He’s a planetary research scientist who just happens to be spearheading one of the most interesting California wine projects that we have come across in a long time. Their goal is to take the best of the Mediterranean and do it with a California flare. These are bright and energetic wines with vibrant, complex flavors that evoke sun-drenched island landscapes. Moderate alcohol but structured, and at affordable price points (for now). They just started in 2020. As this project keeps getting more press, the sky is the limit. Remember where you heard about it first!
We’re tasting a salty, varietally correct Vermentino that screams Sardinia. A Frappato that might just be your new Beaujolais substitute. A Nero that will remind you of the wines around Etna. And, finally, a Carignano. That’s what they call Carignan in Corsica. It’s the only Carignano that we know of in California. Whether you want to chat some Mediterranean wine, planetary geology, or exoplanet theory, we’ve got it all with Bill in the house.
