We adore Bedrock Wine Co! We've carried their wines here at the shop since day one--and the Bedrock team and their beautiful old vine bottlings are absolutely near and dear to our hearts. Find out why we are such big fans when we pop a lineup of six of our favorite bottles. Bedrock began in 2007, when Morgan Twain-Peterson made delicious wine from a small array of thoughtfully farmed vineyards out of a converted chicken coop in a friend’s backyard. Over time the chicken coop and its outdoor fermenters and tiny basket press gave way to production at another friend’s winery and eventually to his own tin-sided warehouse in Sonoma, the town Morgan now calls home.
.
The project is intent on keeping the agricultural heritage of California in the ground--preserving as many old vine vineyards (often times over 100+ years old) as humanly possible. Bedrock makes wines from a staggering selection of vineyards--from the 1880's planted Bedrock vineyard in the heart of Sonoma, to 100+ year old Evangelho vineyard in Contra Costa County, to Bien Nacido in Santa Maria Valley, to the ancient vines at Beeson Ranch and so many more.
Six years into the project, Morgan welcomed Chris Cottrell as a partner-in-crime along with a small staff to continue the Bedrock mission and to grow and change as well. Chris is a friend of the shop and we're so happy to have him here (during the start of harvest no less!) to share some of our favorite Bedrock wines as well as some Bedrock bubbles from the Under the Wire project that Chris has championed.
Come meet Chris, taste some delicious wines and learn about why preserving old vine vineyards is so important to winemaking in California!
