UC Berkeley scientists Frances and Terry Leighton established Kalin Cellars in 1977, making Chardonnay, Semillon and Pinot Noir operating with minimal intervention and highlighting the lesser know appelations of Livermore and Potter Valley. These are tiny production, idiosyncratic wines that really have no comparison in California, and are truly remarkable expressions of time, place and winemaker. The Leighton's insisted on not releasing their wines until they belived they were in the perfect drinking window--often holding back vinatges for years until release. We are truly honored to have Thomas Palauqui here at the shop to share a few cellar vintages from 2000 and 2001 of the Leighton's simply incredible Chardonnay wines. Come taste history here at Vine street!
