Cider from the Loire? Excusez-moi?! Apparently, before the area became a mecca for Chenin Blanc producers (and lovers of said holy grape, as many of us in the shop identify), it was the premier region for pear cider production. Julien is on a mission to resurrect that long-standing tradition of cider-making, replanting heirloom varietals of apple and pear that used to thrive there. This cuvée spent 6-8 months with native yeasts in neutral oak and is lusciously elegant. Balanced and fresh, with green and baked yellow apple, dried honey, white flowers and crushed herbs. What a comeback!
