Grown in the volcanic slopes of Mount Vulture in Basilicata, the Gricos Aglianico is made by the Piccin family, who recently moved to the region from Tuscany. The very name “Gricos” pays homage to Aglianico’s Greek origins (the grape was brought to southern Italy by Greek settlers before the rise of ancient Rome). This is full of scents of fresh rosemary, purple flowers, meat and tar. Great full texture in the mouth with a black and purple fruited core, but with a freshness and vibrancy that Aglianico often lacks, pulling you back in for more.
