Stop right there: these are the Champagne stunt double bubbles you've been looking for. As a certified biodynamic producer with vineyard holdings that date back to the 1600's, there are quite simply *very* few winemakers in the world like Barmes-Buecher. I.e., who make bubbles at *this*price but are nevertheless capable of rivaling the things one can find (at 2x the $!) in Champagne. A composition of Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and more sourced from freakishly tended vineyards, it's unusual in the world of Crémant d’Alsace in that it is produced without the use of added yeasts or sugar. The result? A zero-dosage sparkling wine that can easily stand up to its rivals from that, um, other region. Nervy but with good body and texture, its early citrus-y zip gives way to notes of brioche and almond meringue. As great for aperitif hour as it is for food pairings, this is a serious, serious wine for the money.
