Description
Mas Candí is the joint project of four winemakers, each of whom inherited a vineyard from their grandfathers. This sophisticated white wine from Penedès, made from old-vine Xarel·lo, the same grape that forms the base of Cava. Here it is made as a still wine that undergoes 8 months of aging on the lees in multiple vessels - acacia, chestnut, French oak barrels, and amphora - creating layers of complexity and a silky texture. With notes of pineapple, ripe apricot, pear, and vanilla there's a satisfying richness to this wine but it is no way big or heavy, thanks to the bright, limey acidity and long, salty finish that round things out.
