This one’s a tragic beauty: Stephane Moreau was arguably *the* rising badass of Chablis, the most dynamic young grower/maker in some time, and his wines were fought over and coveted. He passed in late 2016, right as his star was ascending, but his wife and co-winemaker Virginie Moreau picked the torch right up. 2020 may be her best work since his passing, with all the hallmarks we associated with Moreau: intensity, weight and a saline purity in equal measure. A friend of Dauvissat and Raveneau, this has all of their qualities (biodynamic farming, and deeper wines) ... at about half the price! One critic wrote "We almost always like Chablis. We almost never love Chablis. Moreau-Naudet is the exception."
