From a region best known for its much-coveted, world-beating red wines -- the craggy, mountainous region of Priorat, in the heart of Catalonia, this white wine stands out like a unicorn's horn. The name Pissarres is derived from the word “pizarra” which is “slate” in Spanish, and the hillside vineyard's littered with it; the minerality comes through in spades in this blend of (mostly) Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo, and Pedro Ximénez: think savory, offers floral aromas that interplay with hints of smoke and citrus. The minerality juxtaposes a richer, silky texture. It's an excellent wine for fish and roasted vegetables.
