While traditionally in the shadow of its more famed Piemontese kin, Dogliani is the region in which Dolcetto truly reigns supreme. With the ideal clay and limestone soil makeup, the village has earned DOCG status, the only Dolcetto with such a classification! There's classic varietal crunchiness here - a glass of this stuff is all fresh currants and wild black berry fruit layered over a sturdy frame of velvety tannin. And despite its juicy and drinkable flourishes, there is a firmness and tension here, punctuated by precise acid and a touch of rusticity that lends a very serious edge to what is only this guy’s 4th vintage. Organically farmed to boot! This will be a producer to keep your eyes on.
