The rock-strewn vineyards below Mount Ventoux have as great a seat for the Tour de France as they do in our insatiable wine-drinking hearts. It’s easy to fall prey to the region’s more fabled zones like Gigondas, but for everyday use? A perfectly executed Ventoux Grenache may be even more valuable. I always find a black cherry/raspberry taste to the white pepper inflected wines of Ventoux - that smidgin of Syrah could also explain some things. A veritable shop classic, and an unbeatable value.
