Suddenly? There's a reason "Burgundy" alliterates with "boring" and "banal." In Bugey, at the foot of the Jura mountains, natural winemakers Jeremy and Isabelle Decoster craft a 95% Chardonnay, 5% Altesse wonderment from organically/biodynamically farmed vines, 500 meters above sea level. Just like the B-word, there are limestone and marl soils here to give the wine a saline and snappy cut; think: sea breeze, herbs, & almonds. The longer it's open, the more emerges: citrus peel, ginger, white pepper and the feeling of a brisk & leaping day. Everyone who loves sexy $60 white Burgundies should buy two of these instead!
