This may be the best Californian wine that that It-Shall-Go-Unnamed movie prevents silly-headed people from buying. Merlot, as it's from a single vineyard, the place they deem their best site. It was one of the first single-site Merlots made in California. (It was even named Wine of the Year a couple years back by Wine Spectator, to honor its status as a legend.) Named for its three iconic palm trees, the vineyard features lean soils that cause the vines to send their roots deep in search of nutrients... which is why the wine is as intense and age-worthy as it is. Black cherry and cocoa-toned black fruit with spice, oak, anise and tobacco leaf. Decant this!
