There are garage winemakers and then there are *Georgian* garage winemakers; it's like the difference between some surf punk band created by a San Diegan trust fund baby and Black Flag. Archil Guniava is the latter: an O.G. DiY artist in Georgia's Wild West (Imereti), where he tends a 3-acre plot of vines. Normally he makes this with 6-9 months skin contact, but this vintage is done without. Guess what? It's *still* gorgeous & complex, but there's a purity and mineral focus here, too. Pears, salt, apricot pit, honeysuckle, white tea and more. Special stuff: this seems to evolve and change every additional 15 minutes it spends open.
