There are few vignerons more storied in the south of France than Domaine Vieux Telegraphe, which has been bottling its own wine since before World War One. It's now helmed by Daniel Brunier, the fifth-generation wine wizard responsible for taking it to even higher heights. But Brunier himself, though, is quick to give all credit to the soils at the special heart of his vineyard, the exposed, stone-strewn, lunar-looking plateau known as “La Crau.” (For many, this is the most important site in the entire region.) A classic blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah & others, the wines of V.T. are classics, marked by strength, earthiness, and dark, olive-ey herbal fruit. (Great now with a decant, this will alo go decades in your cellar!)
