Ask yourself: why would we get a Mencia from Argentina, when there are such amazing ones from northwestern Spain? Because everything Ver Sacrum has ever shown us has been a winner. In this case they decided to resist the Malbec-icization of their country, and began replanting varieties that had been there before the 50's! This is single-vineyard, 100% hand-harvested Mencia from high up (3600 feet of elevation!) up in Argentina’s Uco Valley. Black and red berries, leather, cigar box, dried flowers and cinnamon on the nose yield to a palate of black olive, earthy spices and red crunchy fruits. Serve this alongside roast lamb (instead of Chateauneuf!) and feel like a wizard.
