We'll just come out of the closet and say it — we love Mourvèdre and we don't care who knows it! From its classic expression in Bandol, to the part it plays in some of our favorite Rhone and Spanish wines (aka Monastrell), we simply can't get enough. And more and more we're seeing gorgeous *Californian*expressions, as with this organic mountain beaut from Metrick. Sourced from vines planted in deep volcanic soils and dry farmed at 2800' elevation, it has a pretty violet juiciness, balanced out with herbs, wet stone and even a hint of cinnamon. A softer almost Pinot-weight version of one of our favorite grapes that works with everything on our dinner table.
