There's a new Burgundy movement on the rise, and Paul Perarnau & Willy Roulendes are among the most exciting members of that new generation of winemakers and grape growers - utilizing organic and biodynamic farming, minimal, if any, sulphur additions, and native ferments, all done with an obvious respect for the land and winemaking tradition of the region. The Beaune 1er Cru has a lush, silky texture, round red cherry and black plum scented with clove and juniper, and a pleasantly chewy texture. An obvious nod to the past, but with both eyes towards the future.
