It’s hard to deny what can happen with Rhone grapes in California, given the right site selection and the appropriate amount of TLC. Bill Easton’s inky Syrah from right near the Mokelumne River (as yet unappelated) has astonishing depth and meatiness. Think St. Joseph – rugged and wild flavors strapped on to a satiny wine. Forget all those wine and food pairing, this wine should be sold in a combo-pack with lamb burgers.
