What happens when one of the most storied names in Barolo joins forces with one of the most interesting and idiosyncratic of Bay Area organizations? Enter the Pelissero "Long Now" cuvée! The Long Now Foundation is one of the Bay Area's greatest/weirdest groups, devoted to the fostering of long-term thinking in the apes we call humans. ("Imagination at the timescale of civilization," they call it — the timespan they call the 'long now.') What better way to honor it than one of humanity's greatest time-based media (wine!), made with old-vine grapes (here a combo of Nebbiolo and Barbera) on the borders of the Barbaresco zone. Gorgeous, rare, and classically Piedmontese.
