6 bottles of 2010 Ca' Nova Nebbiolo Ghemme
Barolo’s known as “the wine of kings, the king of wines.” Together with its buddy Barbaresco, it takes most of the Nebbiolo spotlight. For good reason -- they’re among our favorite things in all the world! But they’re not the only spots in Piedmont famous for Nebbiolo. In fact, northeast of Turin is the region that was regarded as every bit Barolo’s equal, if not its superior, for most of history: Ghemme. One of our faves is Ca' Nova, and when we scored a parcel of their 2010 (an impeccable vintage there), we didn't hesitate! Precise and mineral-driven, it's earthy & red-berried on the nose, with dark cherries, herbs and tobacco on the palate. This is a freakish value for aged, top-shelf Nebbiolo from a great vintage!
