New fave Argentine Malbec alert! Argentine-born and UC Davis-trained whiz kid José Lovaglio Balbo converted an old dairy creamery into a tiny, gravity-fed winery. Thanks to his use of concrete vats and the ex-dairy’s thick walls, he's able to ferment his wines without refrigeration, and the winemaking style (minimal oak, minimal intervention) is squarely aimed at highlighting the different micro-climates and terroirs of Northern Mendoza. This cuvée is 100% hand harvested, and sourced from a single vineyard in Valle De Uco. Juicy and rich without being confected, dark blackberry fruit meets rose petals, with hints of baking spices and a mineral cut. Freaky wine for the money.
