The Douro's justly famous as the Portuguese river and wine region that spills into Porto (and gave birth to the eponymously named Ports that set sail from there)... but there's another "D" river to the south that anchors a wine region that many Portuguese deem their best: the Dão. It's here that Quinta dos Roques made its rep as one of the leading family-owned estates in the region. Classic Dao blend; a riot of grapes, all sourced from a single site called the "Peach Tree" vineyard. Deep in hue, intense and brooding aromatics (blackcurrants, dark chocolate, pine & smoke) and a palate that's soft, smooth, and Bordeaux-beating; this is the sort of thing that could convert people to Dãoism!
