Oh, stop it. Your brain doesn’t know what it thinks it knows, so stop letting it make bad decisions for you. Case in point: this isn’t “Zinfandel.” This is mind-expanding juice from a should-be UNESCO-protected site, the 120-year-old Del Barba vineyard, own-rooted on forty foot deep banks of beach sand alongside the Sacramento River Delta. This is from the younger vines, 30-40 years of age, but more than almost any wine this Creamy black fruit, with all sorts of floral notes, there’s also minerality, salty licorice, and bergamot buried in here, too. This might be one of the wines I’d throw in my bag if someone told me I had to go to Europe and win a wine battle.
