Nadia Curto’s family has a long, celebrated history in Barolo: her uncle Elio Altare makes some of the most sought-after wines in the region, commanding triple-digit prices for his top wines. So we were appropriately gobsmacked when this wine, sourced from the same vineyards as Altare, became available at this price! 2018 was a tricky vintage, but the winemakers who triumphed, as Nadia did, triumphed *hugely* with classically tuned Barolos of beauty and balance. This has all the attributes of its spendy neighbors, with heady herbal and floral aromatics, concentrated tarry black fruit, and a structure that forecasts decades of life ahead.
