Arguably one of the most famous vineyards in all of Oregon (Evening Lands’ gazillion-point-rated version put it on most people’s maps), Walter Scott’s winemaking efforts here absolutely live up to the iconic status of the vineyard itself. Ever wonder what people are nattering on about when they talk about the depth and power of old vines? Start here, back in 1984: volcanic soils lending depth, minerality, intensity and an ineffable sense of springwater purity to the proceedings. Lovely, textured white fruit and a hint of reduction make this a wine ready to rub shoulders with the best of Burgundy. (Decant for an hour now if you're doing it tonight, but you cellar-rats out there are going to be massively rewarded, as this is a serious wine for the long haul!)
