Pietro Buttitta. He's back... and he never even left.
For some he's a rising star winemaker (like that little magazine the Wine Enthusiast, where his wines are perennial "Editor's Choice" selections). Others know of him as that bad-ass chef, running that cool tasting room on Temescal Alley. To us, though? He's our friend and former co-worker, and the man who cracks us up like few others.
Tomorrow at Vine? He's back, and pouring a full line-up of his Prima Materia wines! A labor of love and lunacy, Pietro hand-planted most his vines at 1,450 feet of elevation on a 12-acre parcel of obsidian-strewn red volcanic soil. (In Lake County’s Kelsey Bench AVA.) He farms organically and crafts criminally small batches of two to ten barrels each. (As always, we're not above cashing in on our friendship with him to get our annual stashes in!)
Tomorrow, come taste the full range! His smokey Sangiovese Bianco and textured Tocai Friulano! His elegant Sangiovese Rosso and his bold Aglianico! (Plus four more!)
Tomorrow. 5:30 PM.
Eight Wines. $8.
Only at Vine.
