Come meet the winemaker, namesake, North Berkeley resident, and raison d'être of some of our absolute favorite Californian wines.
Back in 1983 Kent Rasmussen decided it was time to do a career 180-degree turn, morph a hobby into a profession, and get into the world of wine. He earned his degree in Enology from UC Davis, traveled the world gaining experience at different wineries, and in 1986 began his own label here in Northern California.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Decades of incredible vintages of Pinot Noir and other amazing California favorites followed. Some long time Vintage Berkeley customers may even remember Kent's epic, deeply-hued 2004 Touriga Nacional that we still get inquiries about. More recently, North Berkeley's recycling bins have become well-acquainted with greedily emptied bottles of Kent's delicious Esoterica and Ramsay releases of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, and more from California's North Coast and Napa/Carneros regions.
