Winemaker Johannes Zillinger is in town, and we're thrilled to host him for a tasting on Thursday, April 11 at Vine Street. This renegade Austrian vigneron took the reins at his family's estate, an hour outside of Vienna, circa 2013 and has been devoted to farming their vines biodynamically ever since. Johannes is lucky to have had an early start in all things ecological; his father had been growing grapes organically since 1984. Johannes took things one step further, seeking Demeter certification and growing a garden devoted to herbs for biodynamic treatments.
With the strong, healthy fruit Johannes makes wines that are clean, fresh, and always have beautiful texture, balance and bright acidity. All Zillinger wines are spontaneously fermented, lightly filtered, and minimally sulfured only at bottling. From his textural Grüner to his bright, lively, dry Riesling, these bottles are works of art and we can't wait for you to try them with the winemaker himself.
