By eggs, we mean concrete eggs—of course. (Though incidentally, this subterranean, geothermal winery is shaped like an egg as well.) Barrels are not used for these gems by Montsecano, the most highly regarded expressions of Pinot Noir in all of Chile. (Even Parker agreed, giving the ’18 95 pts.) But who cares about points. Trust us: This wine is great, silky, and delicious, resembling an earthiness of your most highly touted Volnay.

While the Pinot might be the coup de grâce of this tasting, don’t sleep on Viña Maitia in the Maule. These are pure Chile goodness. Maybe even the reason why Chilean wines are on your/our map. These are some of the most vivid expressions of Pais, Carignan, and (yes) Cab that we’ve come across. Pure, fresh, old-vine magic at an amazing price point that makes us think we should be drinking Chilean wines all of the time.

Cory from Mission Wine Imports will be behind the bar pouring Chilean gold all night long.
